It's estimated that a woman will ingest about four pounds of lipstick and lip balm in her lifetime just from wearing it[1]. Think of what goes into these products: lead, carmine, hydrogenated oils, and petroleum (also listed as mineral oil, paraffin wax, or white wax). To avoid ingesting these chemicals, you could stop using lip products all together (not really an option) OR you can choose to use toxic-free lip balms from companies like Eco Lips.
Organic Skin Care
Eco Lips is the product of Andrea Danielson's creativity, Steve Shriver's entrepreneurial spirit, and Jim King's vision for creating something new. It all started in the early 1990's with Andrea brewing batches of an all natural lip balm for her friends and family. She then met Steve in 1995, and he fell in love with her and her lip balm. In 1997, Andrea and Steve got married and started manufacturing their first lip balm together and by 2003, thanks to their top sales representative Jim, their company had become a leading natural body care manufacturer in the Natural Products Industry. But Jim saw more for the company; he wanted to create a lip balm brand like no other. His vision was to create a brand image and organic formula that would take market share from the petroleum based lip balms, not just the natural ones. After hours of deliberation, Jim and Steve came up with Eco Lips and quickly brought the product to market. Today, the brand offers 15 different products, hand crafted in their solar powered plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Why We Love It
We tried a few of Eco-Lips products to get a good feel for the range of their balms. The SPF 15 Mint, Hemp (vanilla flavored), and Kiwi-Strawberry balms have the perfect amount of flavor that smelled and tasted completely natural (and yummy). Each balm has a smooth, silky texture that was pure bliss to put on our lips. We certainly understand why they're "making their way around the world, one set of lips at a time." And their sunscreen stick is an absolute genius invention – especially for kids. It is a daily battle to get my six year old son to put on sunscreen before heading off to day camp. Between tantrums and negotiations, our daily sunscreeen ritual is far from a pleasant experience — for either of us. But when we received a sample of the Eco Lips Face Stick, everything changed. Now my son actually asks me to put it on and he even volunteers to do it himself. Thank you, Eco Lips, for making my mornings a little easier!
At Eco Lips, they use rich, organic oils instead of hydrogenated oils, lead, carmine, gluten, lanolin, petroleum, GMOs, or synthetic ingredients to make their innovative organic lip care products. Best of all, their balms are an absolute pleasure to use, earning them the Naturally Savvy Seal of Approval.
